The company was incorporated in 1972 and first expanded in 1986 with the installation of a channel cooling chamber and an expedition dock as major improvements. In 1992, a second expansion of the staff, the preparation room, and the laboratory facility took place.

SLAUGHTERHOUSE AND CUTTING PLANT

NORFRISA is a slaughterhouse and cutting plant located in the Girona, Barcelona, Spain. The company was established in 1972 and made its first expansion in 1986 with the installation of a channel refrigeration chamber and a shipping dock as main improvements.

In 1992, a second expansion of the switchboards, the preparation room, and the laboratory installation took place. Six years later, in 1998, the third extension was implemented, with the installation of the treatment plant, the cleaning area, and the disinfection of trucks.

The treatment plant, which was expanded in 2003 and 2004, has a treatment capacity of 2,000,000 liters/day. As of 2006, we started a series of works to expand the slaughterhouse, as of 2008, we have a series of robots to split, break the neck, and open channels. In our desire to improve, in the course of 2012 and 2013, we expanded and improved the animal stables.

We strive to offer our clients a wide range of pork-derivative products, with the utmost trust and quality, fresh, vacuum wrapped, or frozen, in a range of formats tailored to each requirement.

RECEPTION
AND SLAUGHTER

The livestock reception area periodically renews the mechanisms used in order to acquire the most exceptional techniques in the field of Animal Welfare, prioritizing the comfort and protection of the animals from their arrival at the plant.

The slaughter area comprises two parallel slaughter lines with a maximum capacity of 10,000 pigs per day. The AuToFom™ system implements precise parameters to automatically sorts the carcasses according to various quality criteria and gathers the information on a separate chip. The precision of this system through ultrasonic image analysis provides a high level of traceability of our products. In addition, we have 13 chilling chambers where the carcasses are cooled, maintaining the organoleptic quality and microbiota of the product.

FROM INNOVATION TO EFFICIENCY

The cutting room houses 23 operating lines, one of which is specialized for the cutting of heads, and 12 fully equipped machines for vacuum packaging. This room has optimal conditions that guarantee all the sanitary and technological requirements for both domestic and export sales.

The operating system of our large cutting room complies with the strictest standards and regulations, allowing us to work from primal cuts to various finishes according to customer demands. At the end of each working day, the entire facility is cleaned and disinfected to ensure food hygiene and safety.

We have opted for innovation and automation in the facilities as a whole with the incorporation of cutting-edge technology in the sector, adopting a safe and efficient production model, following the strictest regulations that guarantee compliance with the quality, food safety, and traceability.
